the freedom in blogging. Some, however, find that putting one"s life online can have a price. Some students
in America got suspensions (暂停) because on their blogs they posted threatening words to their teachers.
Recent surveys found that nearly one fifth of teens who have access to the Web have their own blogs.
And 38% of teens say they read other people"s blogs. By comparison, about a tenth of adults have their own
blogs and a quarter say they read other people"s online journals.
With the development of the Internet, more and more people will be engaged in blogging.
In another survey, 79% of teens agreed that people at their age aren"t careful enough when giving out
information about themselves online. Besides, careless blogging can also affect blog viewers. When you are
angry or frustrated, your blog is the first place you turn to. The words you post then may not be rational
which you may regret (后悔) later. To reduce the negative effect, change the permission setting and make
such posts "private" so that only you can read them.
As long as you are careful with what you post, blogging is a great means of staying in touch with friends
and displaying one"s creative works.
( )2. The fact that some American students got suspensions is used to show that people should
not put their life online.

( )5. Recent surveys found that over 50% of teens who have access to the Web have their own blogs.

What does the word "home" mean to you? How do you say the word in French? In Chinese? In your
language? Although people usually know what the word means, it sometimes has no exact translation. It"s
not surprising, because the idea of home is"different from country to country, and from person to person.
A home is more than a roof and four walls. It"s the cooking, eating, talking, playing and sleeping that go
on inside. And at home you usually feel safe and relaxed.
Homes look different in different countries. They also have different things inside. For example, in cold
northern Europe, there"s a fire in the living room or kitchen and all the chairs face it. In the south, where
the sun shines a lot and it"s more important to keep the heat out, there are small windows and cool stone
floors.
We asked some people about their homes.
How often do people move house in your country?
"In my country many people don"t stay in one place for a very long time. They often move every ten
years or so."
-Cherry, Boston, USA.
What a e features (特征) of homes in your country?
"In Britain, even in town, there"s always a garden. We have separate bedrooms and living rooms. But we
don"t often have balconies (阳台). The weather isn"t warm enough!"

One of the leading reasons is the growing number of pet cats. By keeping your pet cats in your home, you
can help give birds a better possible chance to live.
Of the 90 million pet cats in this country, about two-thirds are allowed to go outside. It is said that these
cats kill hundreds of millions of birds each year, as well as billions of small animals such as rabbits and field
mice.
They can also bring illness to the animals that live in people"s yard (院子), further weakening the health
of the natural populations.
Allowing pet cats to go outside is not just bad for birds and wildlife, it"s also bad for the cats themselves.
Outdoor cats can get sick very easily. They are in danger from traffic and attacks (攻击) from other animals.
In fact, outdoor cats usually don"t live past the age of five, while indoor cats often live to be 17 or older.
Keep your pet cat inside! If you raise a young cat, it"s your duty to let it play inside.
