Many kids think whatthey are like. They think they aren"t the prettiest or the smartest. At the same time, they think they aren"t even the ugliest or the silliest, which would at least make them      out.  Everyone feels that way sometimes,    in middle school. Kids     realize how special they are.
It is      growing up. Growing up means understanding what you can offer the world. When you"re young, you realize that just by being yourself, you do offer      to other people. Maybe you aren"t the best, but that doesn"t make you "not amazing".
Do yourself a favor. Think about your friends carefully. Write down a list of things that you like about them. Think about      you make friends with them. You will     know that in the end, no matter if they aren"t the smartest or the prettiest or     talented, they are great in their own way. And they feel just the same         you!
Remember, it gets easier as you grow older. If you try your best, you are still pretty    .

I bought a jasmine(茉莉花)plant for my office. When I bought it, I was told it would bloom(开花)and the sweet smell would fill my office. I had the plant for two months, and every day I looked at it, but there weren’t any flowers or pleasant smell. I was not happy, so I gave the plant to my friend Linda.
One day, another friend Mary called and invited me to her office. When I walked in, her jasmine flowers surprised me. I reached out to touch the flowers. Mary cut some and gave them to me. I couldn’t help smelling them. Surrounded by the sweet smell of only a handful of these flowers, I suddenly understood something.
Mary bought her plant the same time I did. It took a year for her jasmine to bloom. I was so impatient for mine to bloom; regretfully, I gave it away.
In a way my life is like the jasmine plant. I need to be patient and let things happen.
Last Sunday Linda told me that she was going abroad the next week. Before she left, she returned the plant to me. This time I am going to wait. I have learned that when we want something in our life, we have to be patient. I am slowly learning to have that patience to wait for my jasmine to bloom.

It is the duty of every man to work. The life of a lazy man isn’t useful to himself and to others. If one is too lazy to work ,he will probably beg (乞讨) or steal (偷).So every boy, when he is young, should learn some useful work.
But it is not enough that a boy should learn some kind of work. He should put all his heart into his work, and not waste his free time. “Work while you work and play while you play” is important for young people as for the old.
The habit of getting up early is helpful to diligence(勤奋), and this, just like all other good habits, is most easily formed(形成) when one is young. There is an English saying “Lost time never returns.” This means that everybody must be diligent, and make use of (利用)his time. Dad never tried to hug or kiss me when I was a child. And of course, he never said "I love you"to me,       . Maybe it"s a Chinese cultural(文化) thing, or maybe that"s the way my dad was. But whenever I felt       , defeated(被打败) or lonely, dad was always there. Dad was a man of       words, but I always liked to talk to him, and I could always feel a very special connection(联系) to him.
When I was in high school, dad retired(退休) and  had a     stand(摊位) on the street near my school. Dad was very good at making fried noodles, and a lot of people liked his noodles. Every day when I finished school, my classmates and I would pass his food stand. But I really        talking to dad in front of his food stand,        I did not want my classmates to know that my dad was selling noodles on the street!
One night, I couldn"t       it any more and shouted, "Dad, could you stop selling your stupid noodles? I don"t need a father who sells noodles on the street!" At that moment, dad was shocked. He tried to say       but didn"t. When he       his head away, something happened that I had never seen and would never forget          the rest of my life. His eyes were filled with tears and sadness. It was the first time that I saw dad         . My mom later told me that dad was selling noodles to save money for my college education. I was such a fool, and even today I still feel        for that night.
Time really flies. I finished college and then left my home city. For the past ten years, whenever I"ve visited home, dad was always there meeting me and seeing me off         at the railway station. Whenever mom was calling me, dad would sit       her with a list of questions. He would ask mom to talk to me for him. That"s the way dad is, and that"s        dad shows his love to me.
Dad is still quiet, but I still feel a connection. —"a silent father"s love."
