    Hong Kong Disneyland (迪斯尼乐园) opened on September 12, 2005 and became the
first Disney Theme Park in China. It looks like the Disney theme park, which is in the USA,
but has a Chinese flavor (特色风情) to attract (吸引) millions of tourists from all over China.
The opening day was chosen for good luck. Its restaurants offer Chinese menus, and

     We all maximize (扩大) the meaning of  "cool". You can use it instead of many words such as "new"
or "surprising". Here"s an interesting story we can use to show the way the word is used. A teacher asked
her students to write about the waterfall (瀑布) they had visited. On one student"s paper was Just the one

     Chess must be one of the oldest games in the world. An Arab traveler in the year 900 wrote that it
was played "long long ago". Chess was probably invented in India, and it has been played everywhere
from Japan to Europe since 1400. The name "chess" is interesting. When one player is attacking the
other"s king, he says, in English,"check". When the king has been caught and cannot move anywhere,
he says "check mate (将死)". These words come from Persian (波斯人). It means "the king is dead".
That is when the game is over, and one player has won.    
     Such an old game changes very slowly. The rules have not always been the same as they are now.
