Nowadays , people in China are increasingly interested in celebrating foreign festival , especially those western festivals .
A survey conducted recently by sina.Com showed that among the 18,222 people surveyed 63.9% said celebrating Christmas is just another way of recreation ,nothing serious while  17.85% surveyed considered the festival as a fashion act , showing they were not "out".These two parts clearly indicate the general opinion of the young .10.45 percent people involved said the celebration of a religious western festival with so much enthusiasm is absolutely ridiculous pursuit of foreign goodness .Only 7.8% of people define Christmas as a kind of festival colonization(殖民)。
The arising of celebrating foreign festivals clearly has something to do with the advancement of China"s economy .In my opinion of view ,Christmas and other festivals celebrated in China have difference from the  origin  .They have lost their religious background and turned into a big occasion to have fun and enjoy life .Shop owners" pockets are filled, the public"s hunger for happiness is filled , and that is enough . Foreign festivals in china are more like carnivals giving people pleasure and enjoyment .
The crisis (危机)of traditional Chinese festivals that are losing their attraction may be linked to the culture tradition and background of the festivals. Most Chinese festival culture is related more or less to real life.
But the western culture shows much of romance .Some festivals have their religious background while others have much to do with culture and people .At this point , food seems to be too plain .Flowers and chocolates are more welcomed.
Foreign festivals in China today are celebrated for fun . They give people opportunities to relax and to show appreciation and gratefulness . The acceptance of foreign festivals generally depends on the openness of the public , the familiarity with the western culture , and most importantly , on people"s economic status.
60 From the survey we know that among the people surveyed _________
A .Most think celebrating foreign festivals is ridiculous
B .Many fear that traditional Chinese festivals will disappear soon
C.Some think that celebrating foreign festivals is a sign of foreign                                                               goodness chasing
D half think celebrating foreign festivals makes people not go out of faction
61. The writer think that foreign festivals celebrated in China ________
A have lost their religious background
B are the same as those celebrated in the west
C can give more fun than traditional Chinese festivals
D may reduce the hunger of  public people
62. What is the main difference between foreign festivals and traditional Chinese ones ?
A Foreign festivals can make Chinese shop owners"pockets full quickly
B The food at foreign festivals is too simple
C Chinese festivals always have something to do with culture

Everywhere you will always find “the white—haired boy”, sometimes called “the fair-haired boy” He gets special treatment, as if he were above everybody else. You will find him in school, in college, at home, or where you work.
In school, he is the teacher’s pet, her darling who can do nothing wrong. Sometimes she lets him do little jobs for her. He comes to class in the morning, all shiny and clean, He is always raising his hand, ready with an answer to the teacher’s questions. And he knows all the answers. He “gets into your hair”, especially if you are at the bottom of the class and the teacher thinks you are stupid. How you hate the white-haired boy!
In college, he walks—more often strides—across the school grounds as if he owned them. Sometimes he wears a colorful football or basketball shirt or sweater, with a bright red, or green or yellow college letter proudly worn on the front of it—as a big B, for Bullfinch University. What broad shoulders, what muscles he has! He makes the girls happy by just smiling at them. He has the mark of success on him.

On the job, you might meet another of these “white-haired boys”; you cannot escape him. For some strange reason, he is the man who always moves ahead. He gets better and better jobs, with more and more money. But you stand still, wondering why, and trying to explain to your-self why you hate him so much.
Then, you discover that there are others who share your feelings, ready to “let their hair down” —to tell you their private thoughts. One of them asks: “What does he have that I haven’t got?” You ask yourself the same question.
Finally, there comes a day when you decide to stop hating him. Is it perhaps because he has been made boss and you find yourself working for him?

In Britain arrangements for inviting and entertaining guests at a wedding are usually the responsibility of the bride"s family. In most cases it is mainly friends and relations of both families who are invited but when bride"s father is a businessman of some kind, the  wedding reception may provide a useful occasion for establishing social connections with clients or customers and other people whose goodwill may be of advantage to him.it is, however, the bride"s mother who has the job of sending out the formal printed invitation cards.
In the case of a church wedding, the vicar of each parish(教区) in which the bride and bridegroom live is normally informed about a month in advance of the ceremony so that an announcement of the coming wedding can be made in church on each of three Sundays before it takes place.Anyone who may know of an existing marriage of either partner is ordered to give information, though this means of avoiding bigamy must have been more effective in the days when people attend the religious service and the bride usually wears the traditional long white dress and veil, while her bridesmaids, who are children, wear long dresses in attractive colors. This may also happen in the case of a civil wedding in a register office but is probably less usual.
The reception which follows may be held in a restaurant, a local hall or, when there are few guests, in the bride’s own home.Refreshments are provided, a special iced wedding-cake is cut(usually to the accompaniment of speeches)and distributed to the guests, toasts are drunk and dancing may follow. At some point in the celebrations, the bride goes off to change into everyday clothes and then leaves the party with her husband to go on their honeymoon, the journey they will make together, often in romantic surrounding abroad.

For an increasing number of students at American universities, Old is suddenly in.The reason is obvious: the graying of America means jobs.Coupled with the aging of the baby-boom(生育高峰)generation, a longer life span means that the nation"s elderly population will expand greatly over the next 50 years.By 2050,25 percent of all Americans will be older than 65,up from 14 percent in 1995.The change sets questions for government and society, of course. But it also creates career opportunities in medicine and health professions, and in law and business as well.“In addition to the doctors, we"re going to need more sociologists, biologists, urban planners and specialized lawyers,” says Professor Edward Schneider of the University of Southern California"s (USC) School of Gerontology(老年学).

Criticism is judgement.A critic is a judge.A judgement study and think about the material presented to him, accept it, correct it, or reject it after thinking over what he has read, watched or heard.
Another word for criticism is appreciation. When I criticize or appreciate some objector another, I look for its good points and bad points. In reading any printed or written matter, I always have a pencil in hand and put any comments in the book or on a separate paper. In other words, I always talk back to the writer.
That sort of critical reading might well be called creative reading because I am thinking along with the author, asking him questions, seeing whether he answers the questions and how well he answers them.I mark the good passages to store them in my memory piece of writing; where, how and why could or should I improve upon it?
You might think that doing what I suggested is work.Yes, it is, but the work is a pleasure because I can feel my brain expanding, my emotion reacting and my way of living change.
Reading exercises is a great influence on a person. If pictures, still or moving, accompany the reading, the memory will retain the material for a long time.
Just as evil books can corrupt, so also can good books gradually work a change on a corrupt person.
Let"s get back to the beneficial effects of thinking while reading. It helps us to enlarge our minds. We understand more about the universe, its people and many of its wonders. We learn to think and observe in new ways.We certainly do get a feeling for the language we are reading. All good writers in any language have been readers who read critically and continuously.

Computer people talk a lot about the need for other people to become “computer-literate”. But not all experts agree that this is a good idea.
One pioneer, in particular, who disagrees is David Tebbutt, the founder of Computertown UK. Although many people see this as a successful attempt to bring people closer to the computer, David does not see it that way. He says that Computertown UK was formed for just the opposite reason, to bring computers to people and make them “people-literate”.
David Tebbutt thinks Computertowns are most successful when tied to a computer club but he insists there is an important difference between the two. The clubs are for people who have some computer knowledge already. This frightens away non-experts, who are happier going to Computertowns where there are computers for them to experiment on, with experts to encourage them and answer any questions they have. They are not told what to do. They find out. The computer experts have to learn not to tell people about computers, but have to be able to answer all questions people ask. People don"t have to learn computer terms(术语), but the experts have to explain in plain language. The computers are becoming “people-literate”.
小题1:Which of the following is David Tebbutt"s idea on the relationship between people and
computers?
A.Computer learning should be made easier.
B.There should be more computer clubs for experts.

小题3:The underlined word “it” in the second paragraph refers to the idea that Computertowns ___.
