So far as I am concerned,the company will be more likely to employ Bob instead of John in accordance with the Chinese culture.Since Chinese companies,generally speaking,tend to attach greater importance to a person's educational background than Western companies do,and Bob's master's degree,undoubtedly,enjoys a great advantage over John's bachelor's degree.
However,in western culture which values a person's practical abilities rather than educational records,five years of working experience will certainly promise John a prior consideration in terms of the company's employment choice.In addition,sympathy,a virtue cherished by Westerners,will also help John get the job if the employers know the physical inability to work of John's wife.
