Families of five will get 100 rubbish bags a year and households of six or more will get 120.
Residents will have a weekly recycling collection limited to cans, paper and cards, plastic bottles
and so on.
Plastic packaging and glass including bottles must either go with the general waste or be taken to
recycling points. Green waste pick-ups cost an extra ￡60 a year.
The council has told residents it will save ￡922,000 a year under the new system. There will be
no local consultation (商讨) before it is introduced next April.

Any vehicle is a hybrid when it combines two or more sources of power. Hybrid cars run off a
rechargeable battery and gasoline. Hybrid cars have special engines, which are smaller than traditional
gasoline engines. They run at 99 percent of their power when the car is cruising (匀速行驶). A specially
designed battery motor provides extra power for running up hills or when extra acceleration is needed.
Step into a Prius, and turn on the engine. The first thing you notice is how much quieter it is than a
traditional car. At this point, the car"s gasoline engine is dormant (休眠). The electric motor will provide
power until the car reaches about 24 km/h. If you stay at a low speed, you are effectively driving an
electric car, with no gasoline being used, and no waste gas gives off.
The onboard(车载的) computer makes the decision about when to use a gas engine, when to go
electric, and when to use a combination of the two. If you go over 24 km/h, when you step on the gas
pedal (油门), you are actually telling the computer how fast you want to go.
The electronic motor recharges automatically using a set of batteries. When driving at high speed, the
gasoline engine not only powers the car, but also charges the batteries. Any time you use the brake, the
electric motor in the wheels will work like a generator and produce electricity to recharge the batteries.

Electronic trash, or e-waste, is piling up faster than ever in Ameri
can homes and businesses. Peopledo not know what to do with old televisions or computers so they throw them in the trash.
National Solid Wastes Management Association(NSWMA) state programs director Chaz Miller says
the large amount of electronic waste Americans produce is not unexpected.
The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) estimates more than 400 million consumer electronic
items are dumped each year, and there is a push by more states to ban the waste from landfills(垃圾填
埋场) and create recycling programs.
They can be torn apart and sorted for useable parts. Mike Fannon who runs the plant in Baltimore, says, "There are a lot of valuable metals that can be recovered and reused instead of just putting them in the landfill, and in certain components there are some materials that
should not really be in the landfill," Fannon explained.
Fannon says nearly 20 percent of electronic waste is recycled nationwide. Thirteen years ago, it was
only about 6 percent. Recycling rates continue to rise as more communities have banned electronics from
landfills in an effort to keep e-waste poisons like lead(铅) and mercury(汞) out of garbage dumps.
This year several states like Vermont imposed a ban on electronic waste in landfills. More than 25
other states have also adopted landfill bans, e-waste recycling programs or both. Chaz Miller says more
can be done to boost electronic waste recycling.
"We can do much better," noted Miller. "I think clearly our goal should be to do as well as we do
recycling newspapers."

tomato plants regularly for any kind of pests and diseases.
To people"s regret, tomatoes possibly suffer from some diseases during their growth. So you must try
your best to prevent them. Soil should be free from debris(残骸)of earlier plant remains and should be
treated first before tomato plantation like solarizing(晒) to prevent from pests. It is always better to
