阅读下面的短文,并根据短文后面的要求答题.(请注意
问题后的词数要求)     Have one of those days or weeks when everything seems to annoy
you? Even if you do nothing about it,your bad mood will probably go
away after some time. But with a little effort, you can forget
it much faster, often within a day or two.
     ◆ Walk it off
Exercise is the most popular way to remove bad mood. A person
who"s in a bad mood has low energy and high tension. Taking a
fast ten-minute walk, or taking some quick exercise can do wonders
towards changing that bad mood.
     ◆ Tune it out
Listening to your favorite music for a while can also make tensions
go away quickly, because music starts associations with past positive
experiences we"ve had.
◆ Give yourself a pep talk
Stop and listen to what"s on your mind. Bad moods are often
started by too many negative thoughts. Write them all down on paper,
including the pessimistic ( 悲观的)messages you"ve been giving yourself
and then give optimistic answers.
◆ Avoid things that won"t improve your mood
TV may not help much. You need to increase your energy level
and stimulate your mind. And before you reach for that piece of
cake or coffee ,think about how       are linked. Sugar and caffeine
contribute to depressed moods. While carbohydrates, such as potatoes

阅读理解。     Ever felt like destroying the car in front of you when you"re
stuck in an endless traffic jam?
Well ,the Spanish company StopStress is offering clients(客户 )
the possibility of doing just that-but in controlled ,safe conditions.
Clients can also destroy computers, mobile phones and TV sets
in what the company calls" destructible therapy" ( therapy : treatment
of a medical disorder).
"We target the machines that cause the most stress in modern
life,"company co-founder Jorge Arribas said in a telephone inter-
view. "People get rid of stress by screaming and beating the ma-
chines until they are tired out. "he explained.
The company, based in the northern Spanish city of Soria, uses
deserted cars that still work. Heavy-metal music is used to excite
the clients. They are given protective suits and glasses, helmets and
huge hammers.
Most people"s rage only lasts for 5 to 10 minutes. But some go
on for hours : they beat cars on which they"ve put the names of people
or ideas they would like to get rid of.
"Some even get together to turn the car over, "Arribas says. A
session costs 60 euros(US $80)per person.
Arribas says the idea came to him when he was having trouble
parking his car.
"Dozens of people have used the therapy, which helps people
become aware of their stress level and helps them to slow down,"
Arribas explained.
"It"s better to channel violence in a controlled way than to get
it out on one"s husband and wife or in a traffic jam. "he added.

阅读理解。     Photographs are everywhere. They decorate (装饰) the walls of
homes and are used in stores for sales of different goods. The news
is filled with pictures of fires, floods, and special events. Photos record
the beauties of nature. They can also bring things close that are
far away. Through photos, people can see wild animals, cities in foreign
lands, and even the stars in outer space. Photos also tell stories.
Reporting the news through photos is called photojournalism.
At times photojournalists tell their stories through a single picture.
At other times, they use a group of pictures to tell a story. Each picture
is like a chapter in a book, which can do more than record the
facts. It can also be a strong force for social change.
Jacob Riis was among the first photojoumalists. He took pictures
of parts of New York City where the poor lived. Riis believed
that poverty(贫穷 )caused crime, and he used photos to help him
prove his point. A few years later, the photos of small children working
in factories by Lewis Hine shocked the public. Hine"s pictures
helped bring about laws to protect such children.
Hundreds of pictures may have to be taken in order to get one
or two really good photos. It takes science to have the photo come
out clearly and art to make a photo that has a good design and expresses
feeling. Photojournalists make an actual record of what they
see. A photo, however, can be both a work of art and an actual record.
It can record an important event as a beautiful or exciting picture.
As historical and artistic documents (文献), photos can become
more important over time. Today photojournalists still have
their pictures appear in newspapers and magazines. They also publish
(发表) them in books and on the Internet.1. The underlined word"They" in the first paragraph refers to __.  A. beauties
B. photos
C. goods
D. events2. The photos of the small children by Hine show us that photos __.   A. are also works of art

阅读理解。      Most people say" yes" much more readily than" no".
A friend is moving house this weekend and would like some
help, and you agree. But, what you really wanted was relaxing at
home for a couple of quiet days,or a roommate spends the whole
weekend playing video games and wants to borrow your homework
for"reference". But,you"ve just finished it after working hard for a
whole day.
Many people say" yes" to this kind of requests. They tend not
to consider their own interests and feelings, and are often angry with
themselves afterwards. Saying" no" requires courage and considerable
practice. " Everyone wants to be liked. " says Gabriele Steinki,a
German psychologist. "Saying"no"risks losing the affection of the
person asking for the favor. Or even a job. "The result is that many
people say"yes"just for keeping the peace. But experts say this is
regrettable. Anyone should have the right to say" no". In fact, rejecting
a request can even help to stabilize a relationship because it
expresses real affection. But,for peop"le accustomed to agreeing every
request,it"s very distressing to say" no".
Most people believe that if they say" no" ,they"ll lose the affection
of the person. But the affection is important to them. This way
of thinking can be replaced by this:"If he only likes me because I
always do what suits him, then the price of this affection is too high
in the long term. "
When people say " no", Steinki advises giving the reasons
calmly until the person gets the message.1. What does the second paragraph tell us?  A. In fact people are usually selfish.
B. Sometimes people say " yes" when they really want to say no .
C. It"s not suitable to ask others to help at weekends.
D. It"s disgusting to borrow homework for reference.2. Many people don"t say" no" though they really want to because    A. they dare not offend the asker
B. they are afraid of breaking the good relationship with the asker
C. they don"t care about their own feeling
D. they are good-tempered3. The underlined word" distressing" can be replaced by "____ ".   A. comfortable
B. funny
C. unnecessary
D. uncomfortable4. The best title for the passage would be _____.   A. You Need Courage to Say "No"
B. Saying" No"Is More Important Than Saying" Yes"

阅读理解。     Sitting is an art that isn"t getting passed along. People these
days feel as though they have to be doing something. If they are not
working, they are jogging,or playing tennis or golf,or taking courses
to improve their minds or bodies-or they are parked in front of the
TV. Sitting in front of the TV isn"t sitting-it"s watching.
People used to sit a whole lot. They would walk down the street
or drive down the road, and there they would be,out on the doorsteps,
sitting. They could go down to the store and sit on the bench
out in the summer or around the fire in the winter. There were sitting
benches out in the town square. At the garage, there were
straight-backed chairs. There among the oilcans and tires and spare
parts, they could kick back and sit.
Houses used to have sitting rooms, where the grown-ups would
go after Sunday dinner. Mom and Dad, Grandpa and Aunt Ruby
would sit and digest(消化) the fried chicken and talk about Aunt
Ethel"s illness, and how well the minister did today. Outside, the
children would play, and the afternoon could pass by in a comfortable
haze (悠闲的氛围) .
That sort of thing looks like doing nothing. A recharging
battery (正充电的电池) doesn"t look as if it"s doing anything either.
Sitting restores your soul. If you want to enjoy a truly full life,
don"t just do something-sit there.1. What message does the author try to get through to us?   A. People should make better use of their sitting room.

D. people enjoyed going out for a drive3. The sitting room mentioned in the text used to be a place for _____.A. eating food
