Many people think of guys as being carefree when it comes to their appearance. But in fact, a lot of guys spend plenty of time in front of the mirror. They care just as much as girls do about their body image.
Body image is a person’s opinions and feelings about his or her own body and physical appearance.    71    . You appreciate your body for its capabilities and accept its imperfections.
72    . Here are some ideas:

That may be basketball, table tennis, mountain biking, dancing, or even running. Or perhaps you have non-sports skills, like drawing, painting, singing, playing a musical instrument, writing, or acting,      73    .
Exercise regularly. Exercise can help you look good and feel good about yourself. Good physiques (体形) don’t just happen.     74    . A healthy habit can be as simple as exercising 20 minutes to 1 hour three days a week. Working out can also lift your spirits.
Respect your body! Practicing good habits ---- regular showering; taking care of your teeth, hair, and skin; wearing clean clothes, and so on ---- can help you build a positive body image.
75    . Your body is just one part of who you are. Your talent for comedy, a quick wit (智慧), and all the other things make you unique. So try not to let small imperfections take over.

Michelle Obama has just started a campaign against childhood obesity(肥胖)with the admission that she put her girls Malia and Sasha on a diet because they were getting fat.Clearly, childhood obesity must be solved urgently. But is it a good idea for mothers to put their daughters on diets?
Studies show that the more children diet, the more likely they are to become obese as adults.
Research also shows that gifts are highly influenced by their mothers when it comes to eating habits and body image.
This was the case for Carly,40,who blames her mother for her lifelong struggle with weight.“My mother was on a diet the whole time I was growing up,”she says.“And she put me on my first diet when I was 10.I lost puppy fat, gained her approval and never ate normally again.”
America’s First Lady clearly has a vital healthy eating message to convey. But could this be damaging for Malia and Sasha? Could they develop eating disorders because of it?
“It’s wrong just to blame mothers for their daughters’eating disorders,”says Susan Ringwood, chief executive of the eating disorders charity,Beat.“There is a genetic(基因的)component to eating disorders. However,“We do know that parents have a very strong influence over a child’s eating. It"s important to realize that you are your daughter’s role model.Girls idolize their mothers.”says Ringwood.
“No food should ever be‘good’ or‘bad’,” Ringwood says.Instead,“You have to make it clear that food is a sociable, healthy and fun part of life, not something to be feared.”
“Talk to her about body image,”Ringwood says.“Talk about how curves are an important and exciting part of being a woman.Show her that anorexic(厌食的)fashion models are not sexy, but ill.The pressure on girls today is immense,”she says.“But don’t forget that you are the authoritative voice, too.”

[1]Every language has its own special words and expressions. And a story can be told  about each of them.Hot is a simple, easily understood word.So are most of the expressions  made with the word hot.But not always,as we shall see.
[2]The words hot potato, for example, give you no idea at all to the meaning of the expression, hot potato. The potato is popular and many Americans like baked potatoes.Imagine trying to carry a hot potato in your hand.It would be difficult, even painful to do so.Some publicly argued problems are highly emotional. The problems must be treated carefully, or they will be difficult and painful if an elected official has to deal with them. One such hot potato is taxes.Calling for higher taxes can mean defeat for a politician. And yet,if taxes are not raised, some very popular government programs could be cut.And that also can make a politician very unpopular. The questions must be dealt with carefully, the same way you would handle any other hot potato.
[3]Another expression is not so hot.If you ask someone how she feels, she may answer“not so hot."What she means is that she does not feel well. Not so hot also is a way of saying you do not really like something. You may tell a friend that the new play you saw last night is not so hot. That means_____________.
[4]A hot shot is a person, often a young person, who thinks he can do anything. He is very sure he can succeed. But often he fails. The expression was born in the military forces.A hot shot was a soldier who fired without aiming carefully.
[5]Hot is a word that is often used to talk about anger.A person who becomes angry easily is called a hothead. An angry person’s neck often becomes red.We say he is hot under the collar.

There was a Roman general in the 3rd century BC named Regulus who always kept his word. This fact was well known even to Rome’s enemy—Cathage. Once, he lost a battle and was taken prisoner and sent to a Carthage prison for a period of time. Finally, his captors came to him with an offer, which they hoped would cause the Romans to give in, thus ending the war.
They asked General Regulus to go back to Rome. They wanted him to tell the Romans that Carthage was winning the war and it was useless for Rome to continue fighting. They also said that if he refused to do as they asked, he would have to sail back to Cathage and serve as a prisoner of war in their prison. Since General Regulus was a man of honor, they knew he would keep his word and return to Carthage.
Regulus set sail for Rome and on his arrival, he was immediately taken to the authorities (当局). He knew how the war was progressing from the enemy"s point of view. He told the Romans that they should not give up but continue fighting, as it would only be a matter of time until Rome would win the battle over Carthage. So the Romans decided to continue the war effort. Large groups of soldiers were sent to battle due to General Regulus" suggestion.
Regulus went home to see his wife and his children but only for a short time. With deep sorrow, he informed them that he had given his word that he would return to Carthage and to his prison. Though they wished he would stay, his family knew that he must keep his word and return. He returned to Carthage as promised but Rome soon won the war.
