Dear Dr. Fang
      I am a 16-year-old teenager, and I have some problems at home that I hope you can help me with.
     The main problem is that I can"t get along with my parents. Whenever I want to do something or suggest
an idea, they don"t listen to me. They always make me do things I don"t like. Each time I watch a DVD or play
foreign music, he sends me to bed or asks me to play the piano. He even forbids me from chatting with my
friends online.
     I love them a lot but I can"t understand them, what should I do? Can you give me some advice?

     Many teenagers have difficulty getting along with their parents. This is a common problem that is a result
of growing pains. Don"t worry about it. As you get older, everything turns out OK. In my opinion, you should
be patient, and have a quiet talk with them, telling them you are old enough to look after yourself and not to
worry about you lessons. Whenever you are free, you can offer to do housework or clean the rooms for them
instead of watching DVDs or chatting with your friends on the Internet. Because they need you to accompany
them. Work hard at your lessons to achieve high grades, as a result, they will believe in you and let you do what you like. Don"t forget to tell them you love them when there is a chance. They are hard on you so that you can
be better, so try to understand them.
     Both being a teenager and being a parent can be very difficult. However, don"t give up. With a little bit of
patience and communication, many of these problems can be solved.
