say what they mean at work, Robert Phipps, a UK body language expert, tells you how to understand it.
If someone has the same idea as yours, they"ll often have the same posture (姿势) as yours. But if a
person"s body and feet are turned away from you even though they"re looking at you, it means they"d rather be
moving the way their feet are pointing.
Most people cross their arms if they have different ideas. So even if someone says they agree with you,
if they then cross their arms they really don"t. So try to find out what"s the matter with them or draw them out
by handing them something to look at or asking them to do something, such as writing something down.
If you"re training someone, it"s useful to know how their mind works. If a person"s eyes move up and to
the left while you"re talking to them, they think of information actively, if the eyes only move left they think of
sounds, but eyes moving to the right and down shows they learn through their feelings.
When people are lying, they don"t often use their hands naturally but make a lot of hand-to-face gesture
(手势). Hands or fingers covering the mouth means what they are saying is not true.
Tilting (倾斜) the head to the side shows and interest in what"s being said. When people drop their heads,
they are showing they don"t agree with you. Using a hand to support (支撑) your head means you"re feeling
tired.
B. not everyone can speak the same language
C. sometimes people aren"t going to talk with each other
D. sometimes what we say is different from what we mean
wished they had been born men. The number is said to be as high as 60% in Germany. "Women often wish
they had the same chances as men have, and think it is still men"s world," said Dr James Helen, one of the
sociologists who did the study.
Many men say that they have more duties than women. A man has to make money to support (养活)
his family and to make the important decision, so it is right for men to be paid more. Some are even against
their wives working at all. When wives go out to work , they say, the home and children can not be taken
good care of. If women take full-time jobs, they won"t be able to do what they are best at doing: making a
nice home and bringing up the children. Some women disagree. They say they want to get out of their
homes and to have freedom (自由) to choose between work and home life. Women have the right of equal
pay and equal chances (平等机会).
Anne Harper has a very good job. She also believes in "women"s liberation (解放) ". "I don"t wish I were
a man." she says, and I don"t think many women do. But I do wish people would stop treating (对待) us like
second-class people. At work, for example, we usually do the work that men do but get paid less. There are
still a lot of jobs only to men-usually they are the best ones. If you are a man, you have a much better chance
of living a wonderful life. How many women scientists are there …or engineers?
B. men have to work much harder than women
C. men can make money more easily than women
D. women"s duty is mainly to do housework at home

peace and blessings (祝福)from China to children all over the world.
The Five Friendlies come from four of China"s most popular animals: the Fish, the Panda, the Tibetan
Antelope (藏羚羊), the Swallow and one from the Olympic Flame (火炬).
Each of the Friendlies has a name in the traditional way of expressing love for children in China. Beibei is
the Fish, Jingjing is the Panda, Huanhuan is the Olympic Flame, Yingying is the Tibetan Antelope and Nini is the
Swallow.
When you put their names together: "Bei Jing Huan Ying Ni", they say "Welcome to Beijing", offering a
warm invitation of the Five Friendlies as young children for the Olympic Games.
The Five Friendlies also stand for the scenery, the dreams and the aspirations (热情)of people from every
part of China. In their origins and their headpieces, you can see the five elements of nature: the sea, the forest,
the fire, the earth and the sky. What"s more, the deep traditional Chinese folk art can be found in all the Five
Friendlies.
At the heart of their task and through all of their work, the Five Friendlies will try to unite the world in
peace and friendship through the Olympic spirit. In order to help Beijing spread (传播) its theme of 2008 "One
World, One Dream" to every continent, the Five Friendlies show the deep feeling of the Chinese people to reach
