阅读填空
认真阅读下列短文,并根据所读内容在文章后表格中的空格里填入一个最恰当的单词。注意:每个空格只填1个单词。     You probably have lists of remember and steps to follow in order to have the best pet-friendly trip.
There are, however, a few things that are best left at home. Here are a few things to forget when you"re
traveling with pets. Forgetting them will make your trip run more smoothly and more effectively.
     Time

Traveling with pets will take longer and will have unexpected turns. In reality, forgetting about time
means leaving impatience behind. Don"t be in a rush. Your pets will require more extra stops than you will,
and they"ll often surprise you with unpredictable delays. Plan on leaving early and arriving later and you"ll
be right on time.
     Anger
Getting angry at the delay will only make matters worse. Your feelings can add unnecessary stresses
to you and your pets" travel experience. If you feel yourself becoming out of control, stop and take a deep
breath. Your pets have little control over their emotions, bowel movements, or motion sickness when
traveling. Remember to be kind and understanding at all times, especially when under pressure.
     Work Attitude

This may seem like a no-brainer, but when you are traveling, leave your work attitude behind. Traveling
is not a task to be accomplished; it can be an enjoyable and memorable experience for both you and your
pets as long as you have the right attitude.
     Control
Part of the joy of traveling with pets is dealing with the unexpected. You can"t control everything and
trying to do so will only end in frustration (挫败) and anger. Knowing that things will happen beyond your
control will bring great relief to you and your pets. Messes happen; accidents happen. Once you accept
that, traveling with your pets will be far easier to manage.
     Selfishness

Traveling with pets often requires an extreme amount of selflessness. Your pets rely on you to take
care of their needs, and sometimes you will need to put their needs before your own. Leave your selfish
bitions behind when traveling with your pets. They need your attention and care more than anything else
because of the stresses and strains of traveling.
Traveling with pets can and will be a joy if you remember to leave these five items behind. It can be
difficult at times to handle, but the traveling will go well if you can manage to do so.                                                                         Traveling with pets

Much has been written about body language during a job interview. Experts from across many fields
are full of advice on just how to present your best performance in an interview using conscious (自觉的)
body language choices. While many of these experts say there is a "secret" system for making the most of
an interview, the reality is that most of them focus on a few general types of behaviors that have the
greatest effect during a job interview.
Entering the interview location - Your walk should be active and confident. Keep your shoulders
straight, head up, and make eye contact with the people around you. Maintain (保持) an active facial
expression and be confident when shaking hands and greeting people to whom you are introduced.
During the interview - Sit in a straight and attentive posture. Never let your shoulders drop or your head hang down, but rather keep your head up and make eye contact with the interviewers. Don"t play with any papers or notes you have in front of you, and don"t lean (倚靠) your arms heavily on the table. Keep your body position open and make eye contact while listening to and answering questions.
Leaving the interview location - No matter how you feel about your performance during the interview,
carry yourself with confidence till you leave the interview location. Be confident when shaking hands and
making eye contact as you say goodbye, and keep your body posture straight as you walk all the way to
your car.
Remember, the more you make active and confident body language a part of your daily life, the more it becomes a habit that follows you wherever you go.

How often one hears children wishing they were grown-ups and old people wishing they were young
again! Each age has its pleasures and its pains, and the happiest person is the one who enjoys what each
age gives him without wasting his time in useless regrets.
Childhood is a time when there are few responsibilities to make life difficult. If a child has good
parents, he is fed, looked after and loved, whatever he may do. It is impossible that he will ever again in
his life be given so much without having to do anything in return. In addition, life is always presenting new
things to the child - things that have lost their interest for older people because they are too well-known.
But a child has his parents. He is not so free to do what he wishes to do; he is continually being told not
to do things or being punished for what he has done wrong.
When the young man starts to earn his own living, he can no longer expect others to pay for his food,
his clothes, and his room, but has to work if he wants to live comfortably. If he spends most of his time
playing about in the way that he used to as a child, he will go hungry. And if he breaks the laws of society
as he used to break the laws of his parents, he may go to prison. If, however, he works hard, keeps out
of trouble and has good health, he can have the great happiness of building up for himself his own position
in society.
1. According to the second paragraph, the writer thinks that __.
A. life for a child is comparatively easy
B. a child is always loved whatever he does
C. if much is given to a child, he must do something in return
D. only children are interested in life
2. After a child grows up, he _____.
A. will have little time playing
B. has to be successful in finding a job
C. can still ask for help in time of trouble
D. should be able to take care of himself
3. Which of the following statements is NOT true according to the passage?
A. Those who can accept whatever happens in each age are happy.
B. Things are less interesting for older people.
C. Adults are free to do what they want to do.
D. Adults should no longer rely on others.
4. The underlined word "responsibilities" in the second paragraph means__________.
A. duties
B. jobs
C. suggestions
D. desires
5. The main idea of the passage is _________ .
A. life is not enjoyable since each age has some pains
B. young men can have the greatest happiness if they work hard
C. childhood is the most enjoyable time in one"s life
D. one is the happiest if he can make good use of each age in his life

When children celebrate a wedding anniversary for the parents, it"s not just a celebration for the
parents but for the whole family. There are many types of wedding anniversary gifts.      1    Choosing a
gift for parents that involves the whole family makes the event more special for them.
Budget(预算)
Children shouldn"t spend too much money on the gift. Parents usually know the financial conditions of
their children.     2
     Considerations
An anniversary gift for parents should have two characteristics: customized (订制的), and something
they can use together. It is not a good idea to choose a gift that only looks good. The gift is celebrating
their time spent together, so it has to be something they both will enjoy.
     Family celebration
One of the biggest achievements of parents is raising children. So some children decide to buy an
anniversary gift that involves the entire family such as a special family vacation.      3
     A party as a gift
4      If it is a milestone anniversary such as a 25th or 50th wedding anniversary, some children
choose to hold a party. The guest list includes all family members who have been close to them over the
years.
     Family-themed gifts
One choice is a family photo taken by a professional or even a painting created by a professional
artist using a family photo as the image to be painted.      5   If the parents don"t have a DVD player,
the player can be included as part of the gift.
A. Sometimes gifts don"t have to be objects bought with money.
B. Brothers and sisters can share the cost of the party.

D. So the gift should be one selected specially for parents.
E. Overspending can make parents uncomfortable and worried.
F. This way, the family can be together to celebrate the anniversary.
G. Another nice gift is making a DVD with old videotapes of family events.

Dogs are social animals and without proper training, they will behave like wild animals. They will spoil
your house, destroy your belongings, bark excessively (过分地), fight other dogs and even bite you.
Nearly all behavior problems are perfectly normal dog activities that occur at the wrong time or place or
are directed at the wrong thing. The key to preventing or treating behavior problems is learning to teach
the dog to redirect its normal behavior to outlets that are acceptable in the domestic setting.
One of the best things you can do for your dog and yourself is to obedience train (驯服) it.
Obedience training doesn"t solve all behavior problems, but it is the foundation for solving just about any
problem. Training opens up a line of communication between you and your dog. Effective communication
is necessary to instruct your dog about what you want it to do.
Training is also an easy way to establish the social rank order. When your dog obeys a simple request
of "come here, and sit", it is showing obedience and respect for you. It is not necessary to establish
yourself as top dog or leader of the dog pack (群)by using extreme measures. You can teach your dog
its subordinate (从属的) role by teaching it to show submission (服从)to you. Most dogs love performing tricks for you to pleasantly accepts that you are in charge.
Training should be fun and rewarding for you and your dog. It can enrich your relationship and make
living together more enjoyable. A well-trained dog is more confident and can more safely be allowed a
greater amount of freedom than an untrained animal.

A. teach people on how to train the dog
B. remind people to give their dogs some proper training

2. What is the main idea of Paragraph 2?
A. Obedience training can make your dog obey your orders.
B. You should use effective methods to train your dogs.
C. Obedience training is essential to the dogs though it can"t solve all behavior problems.
D. Effective communication is a must for your dogs.
3. A well-trained dog      .
A. accepts that you are in charge and shows obedience and respect for you
B. can understand whatever you want it to do
C. can make you more confident
D. will affect your social relationship
4. The author explains his idea mainly by     .
A. giving examples
B. stating facts
C. listing data
D. answering questions
