阅读理解     Don"t make sudden changes. Start slowly, by waking just 15 to 30 minutes earlier than usual. Get used to this for a few days. Then cut back another 15 minutes. Do this gradually until you get to your goal time.
Sleep earlier. You might be used to staying up late, perhaps watching TV or surfing the Internet. However, you just might fall asleep much sooner than you think.
Put your alarm away from your bed. You have to get up out of bed to shut it off. By then, you"re up.
Now you just have to stay up.
Go out of the bedroom as soon as you shut off the alarm. Don"t find an excuse to go back to bed. My
habit is to force myself into the bathroom. By the time I"ve washed my hand, and the toilet of course, and
looked at my ugly face in the mirror, I"m awake enough to face the day.
Allow yourself to sleep in once in a while, as long as it"s not a regular thing. I do it maybe once a week or so.
Make it a reward. At first you"re forcing yourself to do something hard, but if you do something
pleasurable as part of your morning routine, soon you will look forward to waking up early. My reward used to be to make a hot cup of coffee for myself and read a book. Now I look outside (or better yet, get
outside!) and watch the sky turn light. It"s beautiful. It"s now my favorite time of day.
Getting up early is a reward in itself for me and so will it be for you.1. Which of the following does the writer suggest we do?A. Get up at our goal time to start the new habit.
B. Shut off TV and the Internet, and face the day.
C. Get up at the same time every day to keep the habit.
D. Do something enjoyable in the morning to begin the day.2. We should get into the bathroom right after we get out of bed because________.A. that is part of our routine
B. we really need a cold wash
C. the alarm clock needs to be shut off
D. that will make ourselves completely awake3. The writer enjoys ________most in the morning.A. doing some washing
B. making a cup of coffee for himself
C. watching the daybreak
D. sleeping late, and thinking in bed4. This passage is written to________.A. share the writer"s experience
B. give tips for becoming an early bird
C. persuade people to get up early
D. help get rewards from getting up early

阅读理解。     There is no doubt that adults, and even highlyeducated adults, vary greatly in the speed and
efficiency of their reading. Some proceed very slowly throughout; others clash along too quickly
and then have to regress(退回).Poor readers in particular may lack the ability to vary their
manner of reading according to the type of reading matter and to their intentions in reading it.
A good reader can move at great speed through the text of a novel or similar light reading matter.
He may be able to skim a page, picking up a word or two here and there, and gain a general idea of
what the text is about without really reading it.In reading more difficult material, with the intention of
taking in the whole of it, he will proceed more slowly, but even then he will vary his pace, concentrating
on the key words and passages, perhaps rereading them several times, and pass more quickly over the
remainder.A less efficient reader tends to maintain the same speed whatever the material he reads.
Consequently, even light reading matter gives him little pleasure because he reads so slowly. But this
pace may be too fast for really difficult material.
A type of reading which necessitates careful attention to detail is proofreading (校对), in which the
reader, in order to detect misprints in a sample print, has to notice not so much the meaning of what he
reads as the exact shape and order of letters and words in the text. This is extremely difficult for most
people since they are accustomed to overlooking such details. In fact, considerable practice is required
to practice this task efficiently and it can be done only by reading very slowly, and by paying less attention
to the general meaning of the text.1.The author claims that there is a difference in reading speed________.A.between the poorlyeducated and the highlyeducated
B.among all readers
C.among different poorlyeducated adults only
D.among different highlyeducated adults only2.A good reader is a reader who________.A.concentrates on the key words only
B.changes his speed according to the kind of text
C.always reads slowly but carefully
D.changes his speed according to his liking for the book3.In order to detect misprints in a sample print, a proofreader has to________.A.understand the text fully
B.have practice in efficiency
C.pay no attention to the general meaning of the text
D.grasp the shape and order of letters and words as he reads

It"s 5:00 in the morning when the alarm (闹钟) rings in my ears. I roll out of bed and walk
blindly through the dark into the bathroom. I turn on the light and put on my glasses. The house
is still as I walk downstairs while my husband and three kids sleep peacefully. Usually I go for
a long run, but today I choose my favorite exercise DVD,Insanity.Sweat pours down my face
and into my eyes. My heart races as I force my body to finish each movement. As I near the
end of the exercise,I feel extremely tired, but a smile is on my face. It"s not a smile because the
DVD is over, but a smile of success from pushing my body to its extreme limit.
Some people enjoy shopping, smoking, food, work, or even chocolate. But I need exercise
to get through each day. Some shake heads when they see me run through the town. Others
get hurt when I refuse to try just one bite of their grandmother"s chocolate cake. They raise
their eyebrows, surprised by my "no thank you," or by my choice to have a salad. Over the
years, I have learned it"s okay to just say "no." I shouldn"t feel sorry for refusing food that I
don"t want to eat.
So what drives me to roll out of bed at 5:00 a.m.?What gives me the reason to just say
no to ice cream? Commitment. A commitment to change my life with a way that reduces daily
anxiety, increases selfconfidence and energy, extends life and above all improves my body shape.
This is the point where a smile appears on my face as I look at myself in the mirror or try on my
favorite pair of jeans that now fit just right. It"s through commitment and sweat that I can make a
difference within myself inside and out.

1.Why is there a smile on the author"s face in the morning?A.Because she sees her family sleeping peacefully.
B.Because she finishes her favorite exercise.
C.Because she enjoys the interesting DVD.
D.Because she feels a sense of achievement.2.Which of the following is true according to Paragraph 2?A.She doesn"t treat others politely.
B.She likes to make others surprised.
C.Others don"t understand what she does.
D.Others try to help her by offering her food.3.What does the underlined word "commitment" in the last paragraph mean?A.Good health.
B.Firm belief.
C.A strong power.
D.A regular habit.4.What can we learn about the author from the text?A.She acts in a strange way.
B.She wants to look different from others.
C.She aims to develop a good body shape.
D.She has difficulty getting along with others.

阅读理解     Since we are social beings, the quality of our lives depends in large measure on our interpersonal
relationships. One strength of the human conditions is our possibility to give and receive support from
one another under stressful conditions. Social support makes up of the exchange of resources among
people based on their interpersonal ties. Those of us with strong support systems appear better able to
deal with major life changes and daily problems. People with strong social ties live longer and have better
health than those without such ties. Studies over types of illnesses, from depression to heartdisease, show
that the presence of social support helps people defend themselves against illness, and the absence of
such support makes poor health more likely.
Social support cushions stress in a number of ways. First, friends, relatives and coworkers may let us
know that they value us. Our selfrespect is strengthened when we feel accepted by others in spite of our
faults and difficulties. Second, otherpeople often provide us with informational support. They help us to
define and understand our problems and find solutions to them. Third, we typically find social
companionship supportive. Taking part in freetime activities with others helps us to meet our social
needs while at the same time distracting(转移注意力)us from our worries and troubles. Finally, other
people may give us instrumental support-money aid, material resources, and needed services-that
reduces stress by helping us resolve and deal with our problems.1. Interpersonal relationships are important because they can________.A. make people live more easily
B. smooth away daily problems
C. deal with life changes
D. cure types of illnesses2. The researches show that people"s physical and mental health________.A. lies in the social medical care systems which support them
B. has much to do with the amount of support they get from others
C. depends on their ability to deal with daily worries and troubles
D. is related to their courage for dealing with major life changes3. Which of the following is closest in meaning to the underlined word "cushions"?A. takes place of
