阅读理解。     Dreams are expressions of thoughts, feelings and events that pass through our mind while we are sleeping.
Everybody dreams. But only some people remember their dreams. Our dreams often include all the senses-smells, sounds, sights, tastes and things we touch. We dream in colour. Sometimes we dream the same dream over
and over again. These repeated dreams are often unpleasant. They may even be nightmares-bad dreams that
frighten us.
Early in the twentieth century, two famous scientists developed their personal ideas about dreams.
Austrian psychiatrist Sigmund Freud published (出版) a book called "The Interpretation (诠释) of Dreams"
in 1900. Freud believed people often dream about things they want but can"t have. These dreams
often have something to do with sex and aggression (侵犯行为). Swiss psychiatrist Carl Jung worked
closely with Freud for several years, but he believed dreams could help people grow and understand
themselves. He believed dreams provide solutions (解决办法) to problems we face when we are awake.
He didn"t believe dreams hide our feelings about sex or aggression. Today we know more about the science
of dreaming because researchers can take pictures of people"s brains while they are sleeping.
Other researchers are studying how dreaming helps our bodies work with problems and very sad emotions. Robert Stick gold is a professor of psychiatry at Harvard University in Massachusetts. Doctor Stick gold says
that when we dream, the brain is trying to make sense of the world. He does not agree with Sigmund Freud
that dreaming is the way we express our hidden feelings and desire (愿望).
Scientists believe it is important to keep researching dreams. Doctor Stick gold says it has been more than
one hundred years since Sigmund Freud published his important book about dreaming. Yet there is still no agreement on exactly how the brain works when we are dreaming or why we dream. 1. Dreams _____. A. are remembered by everyone
B. express all that we think in our mind
C. include few senses and things we touch
D. are sometimes nightmares that repeat and frighten us 2. A book on dreaming was published by _____. A. Sigmund Freud
B. Robert Stickgold
C. Carl Jung
D. the writer 3. In the passage, all the psychiatrists _____. A. believe dreams can help people understand all the problems that they face
B. think dreams always hide someone"s feelings about sex or aggression
C. study dream and dreaming and have their own ideas
D. have the same idea that people often dream about the things they want 4. From the passage, we know that _____. A. Jung thought that dreams provide solutions to problems we face when we are sleeping
B. Freud developed the idea that dreams are expressions of people"s hidden feelings
C. scientists have known quite well why we dream because they can take pictures of our brains
D. other researchers have discovered how dreaming helps our bodies work with problems and
very sad emotions 5. Which would be the best title for the passage? A. The Explanations of Dreams.
B. The Ways of Dreams.
C. The Solutions to Dreams.

eating well, getting enough exercise, and having a healthy weight. Let"s read the following rules. They can
help you stay healthy.
   1. Eat a variety of foods, especially fruit and vegetables. We all know that eating fruit and vegetables can
help us stay healthy, but many of us only eat our favorite foods. Remember that we can only get the
nutrition (营养) we need by eating different kinds of food, especially fruit and vegetables.
   2. Drink water and milk most often. Everyone knows that water is important. Besides that, kids need plenty
of calcium (钙) to grow strong bones, and milk has a lot of it. Every day, you should drink at least three cups
of milk (1300 milligrams of calcium), when you are 9 years old or older. You should also try to have less
sugary drinks, like soda and coca. They include a lot of sugar. Sugar just includes calories, not important
nutrition.
   3. Listen to your body. When you are eating, notice how your body feels. When your stomach feels
comfortably full, stop eating. Eating too much makes you feel uncomfortable. If you do it too often, it can
make you unhealthy and fat.
   4. Limit (限制) screen time. What"s screen time? It"s the amount of time you spend watching TV, movies,
and playing computer games. The more time you spend on these sitting-down activities, the less time you

Rubbish is a major kind of environmental pollution. Each person produces about two kilograms of
rubbish in our homes a day. And this is only a small part of all the rubbish we produce. We also create
waste in industry.
Have you wondered what happens to the rubbish? Most of it is buried (填埋) in landfills or burned.
Less than 25% of our waste is recycled (回收利用).
A landfill (垃圾填埋厂) is carefully designed and it is built into or on top of the ground. Rubbish buried
in landfills is cut off from the surrounding environment (groundwater, air, rain, etc).
One problem with landfills is that they cover a lot of land space. If they are not well-built, there is a
high risk of polluting the land and water. Some people also say that landfills remove materials for ever. As
a result, the materials that can be reused are wasted.
Burning rubbish in factories is another way to cut out waste. Burning reduces 95% of the waste. And
if poisonous materials are removed, and burning is completed at controlled temperatures, it"s possible to do
so without causing too much pollution. Some factories could even produce electricity from the burning
process.
Not all of the rubbish can be burned, so we have to separate (分类) it before we burn it. However,
separation costs a lot of money. Another problem with burning rubbish is that what is left after burning is
poisonous. How to safely deal with it is a continuing problem.
Before the mid-20th century, landfills were the main way to deal with waste. In the late 20th century,
other ways like recycling have been introduced to help reduce global pollution.
1. What is the advantage of burying rubbish in landfills?
A. Producing electricity.
B. Reusing the materials buried in landfills.
C. Reducing 95% of the waste.
D. Cutting off rubbish from the surrounding environment.
2. Paragraph 6 is mainly about ________.
A. the separation of rubbish
B. the problems with burning rubbish
C. the safety of burning rubbish
D. the cost of burning rubbish
3. The best title of the passage is ________.
A. Cutting out waste
B. Recycling waste
C. Burning waste
D. Burying waste
4. After Paragraph 7, what is the writer likely to talk about next?
A. Pollution.
