Li Yu liked it, too. He said, “Group members first discuss, and then show ourselves in front of the whole class. It makes us believe in ourselves.” It was part of a reform (改革) at Li’s school—Baita Secondary School. The school made this reform because they wanted to provide students with easier ways to study and more chances to discuss. “Our school hopes it can improve students’ abilities (能力) to study by themselves and work in groups,” said Zhang Yong, the principal of the school.
However, the reform has demanded (要求) more from teachers. Now they have only about 15 minutes to give the lesson which should be taught in 45 minutes before. It is difficult to teach in such a short time. The teachers have to find better ways to teach more effectively.
“The reform demands more, but I’m sure it is helpful,” added Mr Zhang.

China"s first moon rover (月球车), Yutu, set off from the lander(登陆车) early on December 15, several hours after the Chang"e-3 probe (探测器) soft-landed on the moon surface.
The 140 kg six-wheeled rover touched the moon surface at 4:35 a.m., leaving deep lines on the loose moon land. This was recorded by the camera on the lander and the images were sent to the earth, according to the Beijing Aerospace Control Center. After that, the rover and lander will take photos of each other and start their own science explorations.
Earlier this morning, engineers made final checks of the environment of the landing area and the situation of the probe(探测仪). Yutu, reached its solar panel (光板) and started to drive slowly to the moon at 3:10 a.m.. It took Yutu nearly a whole hour to complete the simple task.
Chang"e-3 landed at the Bay of Rainbows on the moon, at 9:11 p.m. on December 14, making China the third country in the world to carry out such a mission (执行此类任务) after the United States and Russia.
In old Chinese tales, Yutu was the white pet rabbit of Chang"e’s. The name for the rover was selected following an online survey that collected several million votes from people around the world.
The rover, 1.5 meters long with its two wings folded (折叠), 1 m in width and 1.1 m in height, is a perfect robot controlled by the command center from the earth. It will face challenges including temperature differences of more than 300℃ on the moon.

Recently, a group of US scientists did a study (调查) of kids aged between 8 and 13. The study found that if kids sleep for just one extra (额外的) hour each day, the chance of their getting fat is cut by about 30 percent .
Why? When people don"t get enough sleep, they become tired. When they are tired, they don"t exercise enough. Also, kids like snacks: If they are awake (醒着的) an extra hour or two each day, they have more time to eat snacks or other unhealthy foods.
So, how much sleep should you get? Scientists suggest 10 to 11 hours a night for kids aged 5 to 12. For older kids, eight to nine hours will do.
小题1:How many reasons are given why people might get fat without enough sleep?
A.3. | B.2. | C.1 | D.None. |
A.10 to 11 hours. | B.8 to 9 hours. | C.8 to 13 hours. | D.As long as possible. |
A. In China. B In Britain. C. In America. D. In Japan.
小题4:What does" eight to nine hours will do" mean?
A. Eight to nine hours" sleep will be good and enough.
B Eight to nine hours" sleep will be too long.
C. Eight to nine hours" sleep will help get fat.
D. Eight to nine hours" sleep will help eat snacks and unhealthy foods.
小题5:What does the passage talk about?

D. Long sleep makes people healthy and slim.
First, put two objects with the same weight into two boxes. Then cover the box. Third, wrap one box with a red piece of paper, the other with a white piece of paper. OK. Now hold the boxes with your hand one by one. It is certain that you will think the red one is a little heavier.
Why do you think so? A scientist found that different colors have different weight in a man’s mind. So he did many tests and at last he got the result. That is to say, every color has its own weight in our mind and their order is the same. The heaviest color is red, then blue, green, orange, yellow and white.
The scientist told us that colors also have smell. Can you smell the color? Of course not. Then why did the scientist say so? That is because every color stands for a kind of light with a certain wavelength. It reaches our brain through sense organs.
According to this discovery, scientists say that people accept the colors they like, and refuse the colors they hate. So your body and mind will be healthy by using the colors you like. Or you’ll be nervous or even get ill. For example, if you stay in a room with red windows, wallpapers and furniture for two hours, you’ll feel you have been there for four hours. But if the room is blue, you’ll feel you have been there for only an hour. Another example, if a person walks out of a red room and into a blue room, his temperature will fall. That means our body temperature will change with different colors.
小题1:

B.a color has weight in one’s mind |
C.white paper is lighter than red paper |
