The problem of time and the rider
Jones and Smith,who are in the same office,live in the suburbs.One morning Jones,while waiting for the trolley bus,meets Smith,who is happily perched on a bicycle.
"Where are you going with that?"cries Jones."Downtown to the office,"answers Smith."Take you quite a while,won't it?"says Jones."Not too long,"answers Smith."I average six miles an hour."
"That's not bad,"says Jones,"but I'll take the trolley bus any day ----For one thing,it's easier on the legs;and in the second place,it goes two and a half times as fast."
Just then the trolley bus comes along,Jones hops on and Smith paddles after him.
Jones gets to town at 9:00 o'clock;Smith gets to town half an hour later.
