I will feel sorry but not guilty. I will think that I have done a what a righteous citizen and a responsible civil servant should do. I may have done them a favor if they can rehabilitate in prison.

I think children have their privacy too. They have the right to decide what can be told and what cannot. I will usually share my secrets with my brother, the only one who I think will not spread out my secrets.
