因为问题中是are,复数,postman是集体名词,可以代表一个同性质的群体.
当然如果问题中是is,回答是is,但这里情况不同.
可以用these取代the在没有特别指示时.
Are these 是可以的,但不能说are they/them policemen,但可以说are they short or tall, them 是宾语,不可放在主语位置,例postman deliever letters to me, I collect them.
