In 1872,Xu helped the Qing government send out the first group of students to study in America.These chinese students,representing China,took part in the 1876 philadelphia Expo.They had small area to display their exhibits.
In the 1904 St.Louis Expo,when the plane made by the wright Brothers was displayed,people could also see a "Chinese Village" built by the Qing government at a cost of 700000 liang silver.And this time,Chinese people,represented by Sun zhongshan,began to realize the value of science and technology .
