1、They expressed surprise when told about the news. when 后面“they were”被省略,这种情况在什么情况下可以出现,比如其它句型可以吗,请句几个例子,谢谢.
2、Officials say the cause was under the floor of a nearby house:old bottles containing radium powder.这个句子中,old bottles后面为什么是containing,用contain可以吗,为什么?

1,第一句,when （they were）told about the news.作时间状语从句,they 和 后面的 told是被动的关系,这个时候,如果要省去主语they的话,一定要和they后面的be动词一并去掉,其他不变.就相当于把从句变成了动词短语.但...
