Do you find it difficult, almost impossible to stay motivated about high school? There are so many demands on your time, along with the expectation of parents and teachers. You really want to look at all the “big picture”. Your time in high school is likely to be just a small part of your whole life. 小题1:
Set realistic goals and rewards. It can be as simple as doing your work and then taking a break to do something you like. 小题2: It isn’t as though you have to do all of your work at one time. In other words, when you reach a good break point, give yourself some kind of reward such as doing something you enjoy and afterwards get back to work.
小题3: Consider your own parents, teacher, neighbor, or relative—anyone you respect and trust that can be in your corner to root for you and cheer you on. You want someone who has some life experience to counsel you. If you can find more than one source of such wisdom, it is all the better. Don’t ignore this suggestion. It can really save you a lot of heartbreak and suffering later on.
Have supportive friends. There are people who are going nowhere fast. 小题4: Instead, stay around other motivated students who enjoy school, study and work hard because they are so positive. That positive influence will help motivate you.
Work with yourself not against. We all have energy levels. 小题5: If your levels are low, determine what raises your energy levels to get you going. Then get as much done as you can. Also, don’t wait until later to get started doing things like your homework. One student explained that he would start work at the end of the class. Then when he got home, he was finishing the work rather than just starting the work.
A.Then get back to work. |
B.Don’t hang out with them. |
C.Seek the wisdom of an elder. |
D.Try to go with the flow of your levels. |
F. Study hard, have fun and enjoy each year.
G. Find classmates with whom you can share your concerns.

举一反三
Have you dreamed of traveling to cool places, meeting different people, and maybe picking up a language or two? No matter which country you live in, you can fly over the world’s highest waterfalls in Venezuela, study in France or take dancing lessons in Ghana. Besides the excitement of traveling, there is another reason to study abroad. "Obviously, I learned the language and am now fluent, but perhaps what’s more important was how much I learned about cultures, people, and myself." said Andrew, who studied in France.
Christina studied in Caracas, Venezuela, a city of 10 million people and a huge change from her hometown of 35,000! Christina said she learned how to better speak for herself and her beliefs and to express herself in another language. What could make you more confident than that?
Living away from home can also help you become adapted to the transition (
过渡) to college and adulthood. Matthew said that he returned from studying in Australia with confidence, and a real interest in international affairs. "After having gone abroad in high school, I found the transition to college was a breeze — moving 560 miles from home didn’t seem difficult at all after having lived thousands of miles away. "
Speaking of college, improving your language skills might help you get into ideal colleges and even land future jobs. Colleges and employers know that studying abroad provides leadership skills in a world that needs much communication. Most of all, it’s fun! You won’t suffer from the general boredom (
单调) while you’re studying in a different learning environment.

The creature that has a leg span (跨度) of six centimeters and a body size of just twelve millimeters was found in a cave inside the tiny nation of Laos, in Southeast Asia. It was identified as a member of the Huntsman spider, a large family that consists of 1100 species. However, the other members of the family all have eyes. The spider is the first one that has no eyes. They believe that the kind of spider has adapted to the fact that they do not really need the eyes to such a degree that they have dispensed with them altogether.
But they are not the only creature to have done that. Over the years, scientists have discovered completely blind cave fish, and even a freshwater crab, which happens to live in the same cave as this eyeless spider!
Surrounded by Burma and China on the northwest, Vietnam on the east, Cambodia on the south and Thailand on the west, the landlocked nation of Laos is filled with a large number of new and exotic (新奇的) species. In the last few years researchers have discovered the Saola—never-before-seen antelope-like creature, a small deer species called muntjacs, a tiny stripped rabbit and a rock rat that was thought to have been extinct 11 millions years ago. In addition to that it is also home to over one hundred species of large mammals ranging from tigers to macaques and over 165 species of amphibians (两栖动物) and reptiles like the terrible King cobra and the noisy Tokay gecko, a permanent resident inside most Laos households.

Here are the things students often do.
Turn off the water! Do you know that some toilets can waste twenty to forty tons of water an hour? In a year, that would fill a small river! In environment clubs, students mend those broken toilets.
No-car day. On a no-car day, nobody comes to school in a car—not the students and not the teachers! Cars give pollution to our air, so remember:
Walk, jump, bike or run.
Use your legs! It’s lots of fun!
No-garbage(垃圾) lunches. How much do you throw away after lunch? Environment clubs ask students to bring their lunches in bags that can be used again. Every week they will choose the classes that make the least garbage and report them to the whole school!

Try to set aside some time every day for your study when your brain is at the most time for receiving information. It’s better to study for 30 minutes every day than for 3 hours once a week. If you can spare two or three hours a day, break them up into some periods to avoid brain getting tired.
Go over each lesson several times, perhaps once in the morning, once in the evening and once several days later. Give your brain time to understand the material, but the break between periods of study shouldn’t be too long, or you will forget most of what you’ve learned.
Make sure you’re comfortable with the bases of the language before learning the more advanced knowledge. Without full understanding of basic knowledge such as words pronunciation and spelling, you’ll find it very difficult to learn more.
Setting proper targets is a good way to encourage yourself. You could set yourself a time limit or aim for a certain level.
Once you have mastered the bases of the language, learn to apply them to the things that you’re interested in. In this way you are more likely to remember the words, phrases and grammatical constructions you meet.
You will find that at times you’re making rapid progress, while sometimes you seem to stand still or even go backwards. This is normal when learning a language, so don’t be discouraged.
Making mistakes in a foreign language is nothing to worry about. What matters is getting your message across, not whether you use all the right words, tenses, cases, etc. If you cannot think of the exact words, try using other ones.
小题1:What is the best time plan for studying a foreign language ?

B.you will be too tired to continue your study |
C.you will waste a lot of time for study |
D.you will forget what you are trying to learn easily |
A.be unable to go on with your study | B.be uncomfortable with yourself |
C.feel it very difficult to learn more | D.stop learning more in a short time |
A.Setting a goal can help you make rapid progress. |
B.you should use what you’ve learned frequently to remember them. |
C.Sometimes you may not make any progress. |
D.Mistakes are quite normal in learning a language. |
A.to give some advice on foreign language learning |
