All over my garden I’ve planted nothing but roses, because I especially love the flower.A close friend came for a visit the other day.I told her that she should pick a bunch of roses to beautify her bedroom.I promised that the smell of the roses would be wafted far, far away.
That girl friend of nine, walking into the garden in high spirits, smelt here and there, but in the end she didn’t pick a single rose.I said that she could pick many flowers; I told her that I was not a flower farmer and didn’t make a living out of them.Saying so, I raised the scissors for the sacrifice of the flowers, but she stopped me, crying no, no, no!
To cut such beautiful roses would hurt one, she said. With her hands seizing at my sleeves, she told me that by no means should they be cut.Roses are the smiling face of the earth, and who could be so iron-hearted as to destroy such a charming smile?
My mind was shocked: the ugly earth, the tough earth, the plain earth-it is for the reason of that smile that it wins the care and pity of people.

Violent(暴力的) computer games have been strongly connected with aggression(好斗) in teenager boys in a study that shows the machines are increasingly becoming substitutes(替代品)for friendship.
The research provides powerful support to the doubt that actual violence could be one of the factors behind the crimes of aggression including young people. John Colwell, a lecturer at Middlesex University, who carried out the research, said aggression in boys seemed to increase with the amount of playing such games. “There are many facts to suggest there is a connection between playing computer games and aggression,” he said.
Previous studies have shown only a certain relation between such games and aggression. This conclusion was uncertain because it could mean that children who played the games did so because they had shown a sign to violence. Colwell"s work shows, however, that there is a strong link, meaning that playing such games makes children more aggressive. He reached his conclusions after studying the behavior of 204 pupils aged 12-14 from a school in north London.
Children became obviously more aggressive the longer they had been playing violent games. They shouted, pushed and hit other children. Those who played in occasional bursts showed little effect. All the children spent many hours playing such games. Nearly 97% of boys and 88% of girls were regular users. Almost the boys, the heaviest computer users tended to have the fewest friends and reported seeing their machine as a friend.

Advertisements can be placed nearly everywhere to catch our attention, they have even become popular on the Internet. That means that customers can see them at any time and from any place. In cities, you can see them on the sides of buses, taxis and trains. There are advertisements high up on the sides of buildings. The names of famous brands, like Nike, Pepsi, Guess and Apple, appear on shoes, clothing and bags. So when people use these branded products in their daily life, they are helping the products to sell more of them.
Every company gets you to recognize its name. The company name is always printed in the same way, using the same letters and the same colors. So, when customers see the same “look” of the company name day-in and day-out, they begin to recognize it without having to read it.
We cannot predict the future of advertising, but one thing is certain- advertisements are here to stay and will always change the way of our life.
