In Junior High School in America, kids study English, writing, math, science, biology, music and art.
At 12 o’clock, the students eat lunch at school. They have meat, vegetables, fruit, bread and a drink, but they like hot dogs and hamburgers best. American kids like sugar (糖), and after the meal they can have a small piece of cake.
Students sleep (睡觉) for a short time after lunch. They begin classes at 1:30 in the afternoon. They go to school on weekdays and have classes for six hours every day and then return home.
Parents let their kids play or watch TV until dinner at 6:00 p. m. After dinner, they do their homework. Sometimes kids and their parents have a family activity after dinner.

How’s it going? Are you busy with your study these days?
I’ve been back at school nearly four weeks. I’m very glad to tell you that great have taken place in our school this term. First of all, we’re asked to “clean our plates” when having our meals and say to wasting. Some of us used to order more than what we could eat. That was a big waste of food. Now we need to the food we order. We should also stop wasting in some other ways. For example, we should turn off the lights when we the classroom. And our school has opened up some fields for us to learn how to grow vegetables. Each class is given a small garden and our class has decided to grow some tomatoes and beans (豆类) in our time. I think that’ll be very interesting. Maybe I’ll be able to you some beans we’ve grown by ourselves next time! What’s more, we have only two classes in the afternoon we have more time for after school activities. I’m one of the traffic safety volunteers in our school. After school, we take turns to go to the streets near our school and ask people to the traffic rules.

I’m going to take my family to have an overseas trip. My wife, our two children and I will all go along. My elder brother is going with us. He has never been overseas and he is even more excited than the children. My father is so old that he’d like to stay at home and takes care of the house.

We don’t have special skills but all of us can be special people. Why? Because we can volunteer.
Mary, a Canadian girl, was sad because she had a heart problem. Her classmates had always been trying to her up. However, they couldn’t because she was so that she needed lots of money to have an operation (手术）. Her parents to get help from the public. A TV station soon a call-in center for Mary.
